STUCCO PATCHING

Stucco patching is the repair of actual missing or broken material — blown-out corners, impact holes, woodpecker damage, sections gone soft around windows — rebuilt in layers and textured to match the wall around it. It’s a different job from crack repair: cracks get opened and filled, but a patch has to be built back up from the substrate out. Done right, the patch carries the same texture and plane as the original wall. Nate quotes patching in writing after seeing the damage.

What this covers.

Corners, holes and the damage Florida deals out

Corners take the hits — mowers, trailers, moving trucks — and once a corner blows out, every rain works on the exposed edge. Woodpeckers drill neat holes into foam trim and soft spots. Storms throw debris. None of it is structural drama, but every opening lets water reach the block or the lath, and that’s where a cosmetic problem starts becoming a real one.

Soft stucco around windows and doors

When stucco around a window sounds hollow, crumbles at a touch or stains dark after rain, water has been getting behind it — usually through failed caulking at the frame. The fix is honest: cut back to solid material, let the wall dry, re-seal the joint, and rebuild the patch in proper coats. Skimming over soft stucco just wraps the problem in a fresh coat.

Patch, texture, blend — the full sequence

We cut the damaged area back to sound edges, build the patch in the right coats for its depth, then texture the surface to match the existing finish — sand, knockdown or smooth. The edges get feathered into the surrounding wall, then color-blended or folded into a repaint. A patch that shows every time the sun hits sideways wasn’t finished; ours vanish.

Questions

Asked before booking.

Can you fix just one blown-out corner, or is it a whole-wall job?

One corner is a normal job, and we’re happy to do it. We cut back to sound stucco, rebuild the corner in proper coats, and match the texture so it blends. Small patch work is quoted in writing like everything else — no minimum drama, no pressure to expand the job.

Woodpeckers keep drilling my stucco — can the holes be repaired?

Yes. We cut out the damaged section, fill and rebuild it in proper coats, and match the surrounding texture so the repair disappears. Foam trim bands are their favorite target because they sound hollow; those repair the same way. If the birds return, patching again is a small, quick job.

How do I know if the stucco around my windows has rot behind it?

Tap it — solid stucco sounds dense, water-damaged areas sound hollow or papery. Dark staining below the corners of a window after rain is another tell. The walk-through settles it: Nate checks the wall, tells you honestly what’s cosmetic and what’s wet, and writes the repair into one quote.
